Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 November 2026
HomewoQ is built for children, so protecting your family's information matters to us. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language on purpose.
Template notice: this policy is a starting point written for the current app. Please have it reviewed by a qualified advisor for your jurisdiction (UK GDPR, EU GDPR, US COPPA, etc.) and fill in the bracketed company details before publishing.
Who we are
HomewoQ (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides the HomewoQ homework-tutor application. The data controller is [Your legal entity name], [registered address]. For any privacy question, contact us at privacy@homewoq.com.
Who uses HomewoQ
HomewoQ is intended to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian for a child. A parent creates the account and provides the child's learning details. We rely on parents to supervise their child's use and to provide consent where required by law.
What we collect
Information you provide
- Account details, the parent's email address and sign-in credentials (including sign-in via Google or Apple, if used).
- Child learning profile, the child's first name or nickname, year/grade, country, curriculum and chosen subjects, used to match the tutoring to their level.
- Homework content, the questions your child types or photographs, their working and steps, and the tutoring conversation.
Information created as the app is used
- Learning activity, sessions completed, topics practised, time on task, progress and rewards, saved notes, flashcards and quizzes.
- Basic technical data, information needed to run the service reliably and securely (for example app version and error diagnostics). We do not use advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To provide the tutoring and generate guidance, hints and feedback matched to your child's level.
- To save progress, notes and study materials and sync them across your family's devices.
- To show parents a recap of their child's learning.
- To keep the service secure, diagnose problems and improve how it works.
We do not sell your family's personal information, and we do not use it to serve third-party advertising.
When homework content is processed
To produce guidance, the question and relevant context are sent securely to trusted processing providers that run the service on our behalf, including cloud hosting and an automated tutoring technology provider. These providers act under contract, process the content only to return the tutoring response, and are not permitted to use it to train their own models or for their own purposes. Content is sent over encrypted connections.
Who we share with (sub-processors)
We share limited data only with service providers that help us run HomewoQ, under appropriate data-protection terms:
- Cloud hosting & database (account, profile and learning data storage and sync).
- Automated tutoring technology provider (to generate the step-by-step guidance).
- Apple (app distribution, and sign-in / in-app purchases where used).
We will keep an up-to-date list of sub-processors available on request. We do not share your information with anyone else except where required by law.
Children's privacy
HomewoQ is designed for children with a parent or guardian in charge of the account. We collect only what is needed to provide the learning experience, and we rely on the parent to consent to that collection. If you are a parent and want to review, correct or delete your child's information, contact us at privacy@homewoq.com and we will act promptly. We do not knowingly collect more information from a child than is necessary for the app to work, and we do not use it for profiling or advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep account and learning data for as long as the account is active, so progress and history are available to you. You can ask us to delete the account and associated data at any time; we will delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your information. Sensitive credentials on the device are stored in the device keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family's data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
Your rights & choices
- Access, correct or delete your family's information.
- Export a copy of your data.
- Withdraw consent and close the account.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable law provides this.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@homewoq.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the “last updated” date, and where appropriate notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
